Ponsonby Rugby are proud to announce that Peter Leulusoo, Kevin Senio and Tani Fuga have been appointed as coaches of the 2017 Premier team.
Peter is returning as Head Coach for the 2017 season, after successfully guiding the Premiers to a Gallaher Shield Semi-Final this year.
After clocking over 100 Premier games for Auckland University RC, where he also represented NZ Universities, Peter found a home at Ponsonby Rugby, winning 2 Gallaher Shields and gaining his blazer.
He spent 5 years in Portugal as a professional rugby player at the CDUL University Rugby Club before coming back to New Zealand to join the Ponsonby Reserves coaching team in 2014 as an assistant coach. He was promoted to Head coach for the 2015 season and both years were very successful as the team reached the finals consecutively and won the championship in 2014.
Kevin Senio is also a familiar face around Ponsonby, having played for the club straight out of school and was a guest coach for the Premiers occasionally this year. During his playing time at Ponsonby, he earned his blazer and won 2 Gallaher Shields.
Kevin has an extremely impressive representative resume, having played for the All Blacks, All Blacks Sevens, Manu Samoa Sevens, Junior All Blacks, NZ U19 and U21, Chiefs, Crusaders, Auckland, Canterbury and Bay of Plenty.
After his New Zealand career, Kevin moved to France where he spent 2 seasons playing professionally for Castres Olympique, followed by 5 seasons at ASM Clermont Auvergn.
Tani Fuga is welcomed as an exciting new addition to Ponsonby Rugby Club, having played for Waitemata and Massey RFC during his Auckland club rugby years. Tani has 11 caps for Manu Samoa under his belt, as well as 2 caps for the Pacific Islanders RU Team.
Tani played with the Harlequin Football Club in London for 10 seasons, before moving back to NZ to start growing his coaching experience. Over the last four years, Tani has coached teams such as the Western Pioneers, Massey RFC Premiers and the North Harbour Bs.
Peter is excited for the season ahead and said he’s looking forward to working with new coaches and management to help achieve the club’s 2017 goals.
